Why Saint Patrick’s Day is so important in Ennismore.

If you ever been to Ennismore Ontario, one thing other then the beauty of the area you will notice shamrocks. Lots of shamrocks. You will see a monster shamrock right at the end of the causeway. You will see them on our signage. The Irish heritage with the main families is huge. Our elementary school and church is named Saint Martins. (St .Martin was St. Patrick’s uncle)

Did you know that this festive day called St. Patrick’s day is a celebration of the arrival of Christianity to Ireland? March 17th was the date recognised as the death date of St. Patrick. One more quick fact is St. Patrick’s Day became an official public holiday in Ireland in 1903 and is also a public holiday in Canada! (Newfoundland and Labrador)

So enjoy St. Patrick’s day! Remember on March 17th we are all Irish. (Including me who is Scottish!)
