As many of you know Peterborough County is in the permit stage of widening the James A. Gifford Causeway linking Bridgenorth and Ennismore over Chemong Lake. The county plans in the long term to create a 4 lane causeway from the current 2 lane causeway. In the short term the causeway requires rehabilitation including asphalt road surface, embankments and guard rails for safety.

County has hired BT Engineering to obtain the required permits and approvals from various  agencies. BT Engineering are also  in charge of designs and negotiations with Unimin Canada for the supply of rock fill. Unimin will supply about 185000 tonnes of rock from their quarry in HBM.

Construction  is scheduled to begin in the year 2020.
